no joke, not funny.

ps: magic mirror digest of the old post:

The discussion in the provided text revolves around the changes in the user license agreement for MindManager, a mind mapping software, specifically the transition to the 2022 subscription version. The original poster, BVasily, expresses dissatisfaction with the new policy that limits the subscription to being used on only one device at a time. This issue came to light when BVasily attempted to access a map from a laptop and was denied access because the desktop was still logged in. The post mentions a decision to cancel the subscription and revert to the 2021 version of the software, which allows use on multiple devices.

Several MindManager experts respond to the original post, discussing the technicalities of the licensing system, the possibility of using the software on multiple devices under certain conditions, and the rationale behind the login and licensing policies. They mention that while the policy of one device at a time has been in place, it has only recently become enforceable with the introduction of an online login system. They also touch on the broader context of software piracy and the industry's move towards subscription models as a method to control unauthorized use while also noting the inconvenience it may cause to legitimate users.

One expert, Blair Y., clarifies that there have not been any controls put in place to enforce the one device rule from the MindManager account system and mentions that it is possible to use MindManager on multiple devices simultaneously, although the End User License Agreement (EULA) states otherwise. This suggests that the issue experienced by BVasily might be an exception rather than a rule enforced by the software's licensing system.

Overall, the discussion is centered around the balance between preventing software piracy and providing flexibility for legitimate users, the technical details of how MindManager's licensing system works, and user experiences and expectations regarding software subscriptions and device usage limitations.

thanks.
