manually rearranging the groups in the map index

this should be possible!

Would enable a much nicer experience for people who rely on map index with custom groups heavily and should be simple to implement :(.

Any hints if this was an idea?

and at least autosorting of groups by name should be implemented.

I don't disagree that it's ugly, but it's also the only option to do this at the moment, as far as I can tell. It would be great if at least alphabetical sorting of groups could be implemented - it's been suggested a few times over the past five years or so...
