How can I add an Icon from the Map Index to a Map Part?

When I want to edit an web part to add some graphics (Icons/Markers) to the Webpart the Map Index with Icons/Markers switches to empty. See attached PDF with screenshots. So I cannot add any graphics to the Web Part.
I have seen that it should be possible as some default web parts have icons in it, for instance Map Parts -> Brainstorm -> “idea” and
Analysis -> “Balanced Scorecard”
How can I do this, adding graphics to Web Parts? So I can build attractive visual webparts?

You can add icons to a Map Part directly from the Library taskpane instead of from the Map Index taskpane.
