Consistent Marker Icon Ordering Across All Map Topics
Description: Currently, when the same set of marker icons are applied to different topics, they appear in the order they were added to each individual topic, which creates visual inconsistency across the map, making it difficult to quickly scan and compare topics that have the same markers. For example:
- Topic A might show: [Icon1] [Icon2] [Icon3]
- Topic B might show: [Icon3] [Icon1] [Icon2]
- Topic C might show: [Icon2] [Icon3] [Icon1]
Feature Request: At a minimum, it would be helpful to have ANY consistent order for all marker icons (e.g., alphabetically, their marker group order, date created, etc.), but ideally, I would like the ability to define my preferred display order (it could match the order in the Map Index>Marker pane).
Current Workaround is Cumbersome: The only current workaround is to manually remove and re-add markers in the desired order for each topic, which is time-consuming and impractical for large maps (my current map has over 4,000 topics).
This topic has come up in many conversations around icons and markers, and when you consider all the discussions on icon ordering, I believe there is a strong case for enabling some form of icon sorting or distribution within a topic.
Like many others who have commented on this, I rely on icons for processing and arranging information—something that is meant to be one of the fundamental principles of mind mapping. Having the ability to sort or organize icons more effectively would support this core purpose and improve usability for many of us.
