Fill - Two-Colour Gradient

It would be very useful to be able to fill the boxes on the maps with a gradient between two colours. Helpful if using colours to denote something like stages in a programme, where a gradient fill could denote transition from one stage to another.
I like this idea
This used be available, but was abandoned since most printers are not able to print gradients.
