Pasting huge text with images from other apps, makes MindManager freeze and buggy.

I'm trying to paste my 18-page dissertation proposal from the clipboard, which includes only images and text by copy and pasting. However, the application freezes, and even after waiting for an hour and a half, the document never finishes copying. I was forced to restart the application, but the text I pasted still wasn't there.

I’ve tried other mind mapping software, and I was able to recreate the expected output in under three minutes without any issues.

Honestly, I don't think my laptop is the problem—I'm using a high-end, recent Helios 16 model.

I am completely aware of import word feature, but this should be also equally easier as import word feature. Now, I only needed to copy paste manually, when the app should be capable of that.

The application lacks too many features to promise as a professional mind-map tool. It's quite limited and too expensive. I'm demotivated by my experiences with this application.

Just tried with a large document and had no problems.

Which version you use on what platform? Have you contacted support for this?

I must admit that your last sentence made me reluctant to even start reacting.

Like Ary I was able to copy and paste a large document into MindManager directly in less than a minute without any performance issues, but generally this is a poor approach to importing documents. The end result is a very "flat" map which won't reflect the hierarchical structure of the original document.

Provided the Word document uses Word's paragraph styles, the MindManager's Word import facility is a much better option and will usually result in a map with main topics and sub-topics etc which match the heading structure of the original. Admittedly importing used to be easier and more flexible before the Word import/export facility was rewritten, but it's still possible to get a good result.

While I agree that MindManager is expensive I'm surprised by the assertion that it "lacks too many features" and is "quite limited". While MindManager certainly isn't perfect and some other applications may offer one or two specific facilities which it lacks, none have anything like the depth of features that MindManager provides. Furthermore, MindManager is the only mind mapping program with an open API which allows for the creation of macros, add-ins etc.

If importing large files is your main objective you may well be better off with another application. However, if you want to do anything more complicated with the resulting map you are likely to find that MindManager has the best toolset for doing so.
