Workaround in Tag / Icon view when using multiple tags / icons

Currently I'm working on a Mindmap in which I'm maintaining an overview of pro's and cons related to specific criteria. These criteria are set as tags. Additionally these pro's and cons are attributed to persons or groups. This means that each finding can be considered as a pro or con for a specific person, related to a specific criteria.

Now I'd like to have an overview per person, where I can see all pro's and cons related to each criterium. So basically I'd like the tag view to be able to handle multiple tags. Since it's not possible to do this, I'm looking for a workaround to get the same results. I've tried incorporating power filters, which at least makes it possible to see which pro's / cons are applicable per person, but that would still mean I'd need to manually build this view for each person.

One of the options I'm now thinking might be helpful is building a macro which automatically sets a specific power filter when clicking a button. Ideally that would be possible from within the tag view. Another option could be to make multiple exports based on a specific power filter or to have a macro built in such a way that all findings with multiple tags are duplicated with all tags separated.

Does anyone know whether or not any of the above options are possible or does anyone potentially have another idea that might work even better or cleverer.

If additional input is needed, let me know!

Hi Stephan,

If I understood your concern correctly, one possible solution would be to save multiple filters and call them up as needed. In the new version 24, filtering has become much more convenient, as the Power Filter is now located on the right side under the workspace tabs. A major advantage is that it can remain open permanently, unlike in previous versions, where it had to be reactivated each time. This allows users to adjust filters flexibly or quickly retrieve saved filters without interrupting their workflow.

I am not sure whether it is possible to control a saved Power Filter via a macro, as I lack the necessary knowledge in this area. There may be a way to automate this, but it would need to be investigated further.

Another option is to use a SmartRule to highlight topics where all the criteria are met. For example, you could use the relevant tags or icons as the trigger and make the matching topics a different colour and/or with bold type as the effect.

The difficulty with this approach is that you only have a choice between meeting all the criteria or or any of them, so you could probably only show a single person and either their pros, or cons, but not both at the same time. Still, this approach might be useful in some cases, especially if combined with filtering.

Hello Stephan

As far as I know, the Power Filters are not directly accessible to macros through the MindManager API. However, everything that the Power Filter can do in a map can also be replicated by a macro by using the same properties and methods that the Power Filter uses.

It will be difficult to implement this filtering in the Tag or Icon view, because regardless of view, MindManager can only display one copy of a topic. If the view is already grouped by tags or icons, it will not be possible to show the same topic in two columns. The map view will be necessary - not because you can show the same topic twice, but because it is not grouped by tag or icon.

Nevertheless, it would be entirely possible to have a macro that does complex predefined filtering. But before thinking about that, could you post an example map and show some scenarios that you would like to filter?
