Transfer settings when update v23 to v24

I'm running v23 for Windows and about to install v24. When I do so, will this function as an upgrade or a separate installation? In either case, how do I make sure that my settings are transferred? I found this help article, but it is outdated, and there is no longer a "23\Current" key in the registry. There is a "23\Settings" key. I assume this is the one I want. But will the instructions in that article still work, if I replace "Current" with "Settings" throughout?

Thank in advance for any guidance!

MindManager 24 will function as a new installation. You can use different versions of MindManager alongside each other if you have licences for both. The values in the Settings key may be different between versions, so copying keys in the registry is not necessarily a good idea. I think this KB article referred specifically to topic alerts. I am not certain whether MindManager automatically transfers its internal settings when installing a newer version, but it definitely does not transfer settings saved in the User area, which applies to internal configuration data for Add-ins. If it does not transfer your settings, you can open 23 and 24 alongside each other and manually recreate your settings.

Many thanks! Indeed, 24 installed alongside. It seems to have transferred most of the global settings for things such as default folder for new maps, etc.--the stuff you find under "Options"--but not customizations such as map parts, markers and elements, and so on. But that stuff is easily imported using the library. I didn't expect it to retain anything about add-ins, so I took the precautions of backing up those settings separately. Thanks again!
