Tony Buzan developed Mind Mapping as a writing and thinking technique for himself. He wanted to have a efficient and easy way to write notes and remember them. This was in the late 1960s

In 1974 Mind Mapping was officialy presented in the BBC documantry "Use your head".

After that, Mind Mapping disappeared from the scene, because Tony worked as trainer and facilitator für IBM and Boing. Mind Mapping became a registered brand.

In the late 1980s Mind Mapping was brought to Germany by Maria Beyer. She was a friend and student of Tony Buzan.

Micheal Jetter, a former programmer of Siemens, designed and programmed MindMan(ager). First Release 1995.

The trademark rights expire at the beginning of the 2000s. This was the start of many different mindmapping Software and tools all around the world.

Mind mapping is much more than just the diagram. It is a note-making, creativity and learning process.
