Could you add the standard symbols to the flowchart template? I can diagram the flows, but I need standard symbols to officially submit them.

Hi Jon,

Can you elaborate on which standard symbols you need?

ISO 5807-1985 is authoritative, but this page shows them. https://www.gliffy.com/blog/guide-to-flowchart-symbols

Hello Jon,

If you use the standard workflow template you have options:

a) you hover your mouse over a plus-sign of a topic/step now you see the image symbol wheel options.

And b) you have the Shapes available in the insert ribbon. See the image

As you see, MindManager offers what you were looking for.

Question... Could you not find this in the built-in tutorials or in the Help?
If Not, development should nake this easy to find.
Or else, find a local trainer. They are willing to help and they know things ;-).

Hello Ary

Background objects are not as good as topics for drawing flowcharts, because they don't have properties, notes, links, icons, attachments and so on.

From what I can see MindManager offers 7 of the 20 symbols in ISO 5807-1985. However a symbol set that includes paper tape and magnetic tape is less useful for today's computing technology. BPMN-2 would be a better option for many use cases and has been requested several times.

Custom topic shapes can always be created with a vector graphics editor that can export .EMF files.

Hi Nick,

I agree, MindManager could add several symbols in the wheel etc. in a next release.

I also found that there are already more symbols available if you rightclick a topic in a workflow.

There you can find more topic shapes, AND also the option to add your own shapes.

The shapes / symbols placed into the workflow can have properties... am i correct in this?

Hello Ary

For some reason the context menu for flowchart layout topics is very restricted in comparison to regular topics. But properties, attachments, links etc. can still be added from the Insert and Advanced ribbon tabs.

Ari,

The problems I have accessing MM help or this forum strain credulity. I can explain if you will contact me directly.

And as comment that is entirely without substance, although we will never see them again, some of us have fond memories of paper and mag tape 😊

Regards,

Jon
