Finding saved files

I am running version 22.2.321 on an apple mac with Ventura 13.1. I cannot find a file that I have been working on now for a few days. All my other files show up. I sometimes accidentaly save rather than save as and so am wondering if such files go to a temporary file somewhere?
Try and Look for a folder called " mymaps"
