Auto-correct should include capitalizing first word

There should be a way to auto-capitalize the first word of any box, similar to the way Word, Visio, Excel and pretty much everything else does it.

Automatic capitalisation of the first letter of each topic is part of the Topic format. To enable it, right-click on a topic and click "Format Topic...", then select the "Text & Capitalization" tab:
Select the capitalisation style you require. This will set the format for an individual topic, so to make it the default for all topics at this level in the map, click the down-arrow on "Map Theme" and then "Save in Default Theme for This Map". All topics at this level will then take the same setting.
This can also be configured in the Theme Editor from the Design tab,.
