By going back a generation...found that is on install, you click on settings, it seeks access to calendars...if you do not allow at this stage, the settings will not continue to work
Normally installing software on a Mac goes like: do this, do not think, click next, do not think, etcetera.
So no need to click on settings.
I think it's valuable to note that how most people install software on all devices. It's not a Mac-minded thing. ;)
