MindManager Snap Chrome browser extension no longer available or supported

When I opened up the Chrome browser this morning I was told that the MindManager Snap extension was no longer supported and had to be removed.

I removed it and went to the Chrome Web Store thinking that a new version would be available. There appeared to be one, but on clicking on it the following message appeared:

"This extension is no longer available because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions."

I also found out too late that I may have been able to temporarily enable the extension if I hadn't deleted it.

Does MindManager intend to update the MindManager Snap Chrome extension?

Hi again Alex,

Can you post an image of what you are seeing on your end? I installed the extension on my personal device without issue this morning and it's working for me but I did see the warning that the extension may soon no longer be supported.

Hi Marian,

Thanks for acting so promptly regarding the spam post.

As I indicated in my original post, the initial message I received said that the extension was no longer supported and had to be removed but unfortunately I didn’t take a screen shot of it. After I deleted the extension that message is no longer visible - instead there is the message that I quoted in my original post about the extension not being available because it doesn’t follow best practice for chrome extensions.

Hi Alex,

We have made the difficult decision to retire the MindManager Snap browser extensions. This decision was not made lightly, but due to the ongoing technical requirements to maintain and update these extensions, we have determined that we can no longer support them effectively.

While the browser extensions will no longer be available, we remain committed to providing you with powerful tools for capturing and organizing your ideas. You can continue to use MindManager Snap via our mobile and desktop applications to collect and send content to your maps seamlessly.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for being a valued MindManager user.

Best,

-Marian

Thanks Marian.

I am a bit disappointed - while they weren't exactly groundbreaking, the browser extensions were useful research tools which saved a few steps in the process of sending website links to MindManager. This also adds to the general concern about the stability of the MindManager feature set, especially as the browser extensions were a fairly recent addition. And while I appreciate your prompt reply and the explanation, it would also help if these sorts of changes were more widely communicated.

Hi Marian,

This is a pity.
The SNAP functionality is important for all users who use MindManager as their Second Brain.
See the books bij Tiago Forte about this method.

MindManager is a strong Second Brain competitor for Notion, Obsydian, Evernote, and the like.
Without the browser extensions that position is not gone, but weakened.

Hope someone can find the funding to bring it back.
