How to cancel subtopic automatic line wrapping when entering spaces

I need to mix Chinese and English input, but I'm having problems.
When I enter a piece of Chinese in the text box, I want to note the meaning with an English phrase, which needs to have a space in the middle, but pressing the space bar will automatically wrap the line. How do I solve the problem?

I think Joerg has a good solution, wrapping only occurs when adding a space if the topic's preferred width is smaller than the text already there. So if you make the preferred width larger it won't wrap.
