how to show/unhide icons after hide icons

Go to the View tab on the ribbon. In the Detail section click on Show/Hide. The Topic Elements drop-down meu should appear, with a tick next to those items which can be currently viewed in the map. At the top of menu is Icons, which because you clicked on Hide Icons in the context menu is unticked. Simply tick this to restore the icons.
