No Export to Powerpoint is replaced by the Slides Decks function in MM vs 21.

They are stored as Mdeck files.

You can do a lot with Mdecks , but I can imagine you would also like to have the Export to PPT function again.

Or someone should explain how to use Slide decks in so much detail, that we all understand that this is what we need instead of PPT

Please explain the function and how to use it, and yes you have to bring back the ppt function. For me, it is a prerequisite

You can (auto-)create slides via View ribbon, Slides.

There you can also create a MDeck.

Bear in mind you can create background images with the Shapes etc etc. in order to make the slides look as you want them.

With reference to you prerequisite, I already mentioned in my earlier response howI think about it. But I am not a developer, just an experienced user.

Hi Gerhard,

what for do you need the PPT-Export?

It created outline text on PPT-slides. You can do this with copy/paste your topics.

If you want do have a screenshot f your branches, copy the topic in them map, right click in PPT and import the images.

That's all the all PPT-export did

Andreas

I have to agree with Gerhard about this - and if the comments on this issue on this forum are any guide, MindManager has lost customers over this. I still don't understand why this is so difficult, especially when most of MindManager's competitors offer PPT export.

The work-around is clunky at best, as the slide content has to be imported on a slide-by-slide basis. Here are the steps involved:

  1. Create a MindManager slide deck from your map (or alternatively identify the branches in the map you want in the PPT deck).
  2. Create a new PowerPoint file, with the number of slides required.
  3. Switch back to the slide deck or map and go to the first slide (or the first branch in an ordinary map you want to use in the presentation). Right click and copy the parent topic.
  4. Go to the first slide in the PowerPoint file, and paste. You have four options when pasting the contents of the MM slide in PP: 1) Use Destination Theme, 2) Keep Source Formatting, 3) Picture and 4) Keep Text Only.
  5. Options 1, 2 and 4 result in the copied text being pasted, the last option with bullet points (if you are using them). Regardless of the option selected, the parent topic isn't recognised as a title in the PowerPoint slide, and you will have to cut and paste it in the title (assuming you want a title). Option 3 results in an image of the branch being pasted in the slide.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 as required for each slide.

Given the number of steps involved and the limitations (such as failing to recognise the parent topic as the slide title), it's not surprising that people prefer the simplicity of direct export. I know that MindManager are trying to develop slide decks as an alternative form of presentation, but for many workplaces this just isn't a feasible option.

To all it may concern, I a mot going to renew my MM21. I looking for alternatives.

Maybe we should start a poll about the need of an PPT export. In my experience it was the least used function ever. Ok, the new Map-Decks ruined the PPT-export completely.

The old export wont come back, because of the old MS interface. The question is, what should be the possibilities of a new PPT export?

Hi Gerhard,

the export wasn't updated so far, because of the less use from the users. If we can show and declare the product supplier the need of this function it will be replaced.

Hi All,

I have never seen a survey on the use of PPT export, nor any other option that dissapeared suddenly)

At least we show the need for this quite often.

https://community.mindmanager.com/topic/462-presentatie-direct-exporteren-naar-powerpoint

https://community.mindmanager.com/topic/121-export-of-slides-to-powerpoint-is-not-an-option-why

etc.

NOTE... It does help if we stress the importance for our daily work.

After I had many discussions on the Brainstorm module and Analysis function, it is still her to stay.

(they first respnded that I could creeate some of it with the Background objects plus Smart Rules, but Why make something that is arlready there?

On the other hand... my urgent requests to keep Task management (Colhuman) alive was ignored. No response whatsoever.

Hi Gerhard and Andreas,

Just a few comments and questions on this:

  1. I suspect that there are lots of features, old and new, in MindManager which are used even less than PowerPoint export - yet these features are retained and even improved.
  2. When phasing out the old MS Office export and import facilities, MindManager/Corel were able to write completely new interfaces for Word and Excel. Why couldn’t they do this for PowerPoint?
  3. I would treat any any usage figures on PPT export with a degree of scepticism. For many people it’s not necessarily a feature they would use often, but when they need it, it’s critical - for example, doing a presentation at the end of a project that’s been entirely developed and managed in MindManager. It’s quite likely that a significant number of users are quietly walking away from MindManager over this issue.
  4. If MindManager want to position Slide Decks as an alternative form of presentation to PowerPoint, they have a long way to go to match the feature set of the latte and its ability to integrate other media.

Hi Ary,

very good idea do collect post that show the need of an PPT interface!! I'll support this. That was my idea of a poll about the use and need of this export-type

Hi Alex,

add 2) the MS COM-Interface needed that the original MS product, like Excel, Word or PowerPoint has to be installed an you PC. This was the min reason to develop a new export interface.

Excel export came with MM2020

Word export came with MM21 and PPT export was moved to a next release, because of the development of the new co-editing features. It ist still on the list.

add 3) very good reason for an PPT export 👍

add 4) will never be an alternativer to PowerPoint. There is still enough potential for the MDecks, but like the way they work right now, you can skip them.

Regards, Andraes
